Camera is not reading memory card?
It is a Canon PowerShot SD780 IS. It says No memory card when it is turned on and Cannot record when I try to take a picture. The memory card is an SD 2.0GB PNY. It is not locked and it works when inserted into the computer. Any suggestions as to what I should do? Thanks.
I can’t format it from the camera because it doesn’t read it. Do I just delete all the pictures off the card from the computer?
have you tried formatting the card? If the camera won’t do anything at all with it replace it.
When was the last time you formatted the card using the format feature in the cameras menu.
It is very important that you format the card frequently, usually just after you have successfully copied all the images to your computer.
1) Try getting all your pictures off the card onto somewhere safe on your computer, formatting it with windows as a FAT file system, then inserting it into the camera and trying to format it with the camera
2) Try another card and see if it reads that card
3) Call Canon tech support and have them walk you through troubleshooting – if it is a fault in the camera, they can set up a repair ticket for it. It would be a good idea to have your purchase receipt with you to let them know if it is under warranty.
